LPN to BSN Programs in Washington

Washington LPN to BSN Programs

There are numerous career opportunities available to nurses who hold a BSN degree in the state of Washington. Nurses with a BSN degree can teach at the various colleges in the state, work at some of the nation’s top healthcare providers or work in a doctor’s private practice. LPN nurses who wish to earn a BSN degree and advance their careers might want to consider enrolling in an LPN to BSN program. This accelerated nursing program allows nurses to earn their advanced nursing degree while still working as an LPN nurse.

The LPN to BSN program is offered by many online or traditional colleges. It is an advanced nursing program that allows current LPN nurses to earn their BSN degree in three to four years, compared to the four to six years it takes to complete the traditional BSN program. The LPN to BSN program is very similar to the BSN program. Students are expected to take part in clinicals, nursing courses and traditional college courses. This allows them to learn everything that they would from a traditional BSN program, but in half the time.

The difference with the LPN to BSN program is that nursing students have the option to take part in a test out program. Nurses that have extensive experience in the nursing industry can choose to test out of basic nursing courses. A written test is administered to students and if they pass they are exempt from the basic nursing courses. This test out option allows nurses to use their skills and knowledge to their advantage. It also allows nursing students to earn their advanced nursing degree faster than if they were in a traditional BSN program.

The admissions process to the LPN to BSN program is very similar to any other online or traditional college or university. Prospective students will need to submit proof of a high school diploma or GED certificate, ACT or SAT scores, and letters of recommendation. They will also need to show that they have earned a 2.5 GPA in the general college courses. Nurses who are applying for the LPN to BSN program will also need to provide proof of a current and valid LPN certificate and proof that they held a job as an LPN nurse for at least six months. All of these requirements must be met in order for the student to be considered for the LPN to BSN program.
