LPN to BSN Programs in Louisiana

Louisiana LPN to BSN Programs

Individuals looking for a rewarding and lucrative career might want to consider pursuing a job in the nursing or healthcare industry. Nurses in the state of Louisiana can earn an hourly wage of anywhere between $15 and $30. The wage will vary depending upon how much previous experience an individual has, what degree the person holds, and who the employer is. People who are looking to earn on the higher end of the hourly wage will need to earn an advanced nursing degree from a traditional or online college. An LPN to BSN program is a great way for people who are already employed as a nurse to pursue this advanced degree.

An LPN to BSN program is an accelerated degree program that allows nurses to use their existing skills and knowledge to earn an advanced nursing degree. It takes most students approximately four to six years to complete a BSN degree program. Those that enroll in the LPN to BSN program will only take approximately three to four years to complete the program. The LPN to BSN program is able to be completed faster due to the fact that students can test out of courses and use work experience as part of their clinicals.

The LPN to BSN program is set up very similar to traditional BSN degree programs. The only difference in this program is how fast a student can complete the program. Students will need to take part in traditional college courses. These courses will range from English classes to math and social science courses. Prospective LPN to BSN program students will be expected to take these courses and earn at least a 2.5 GPA in them to move onto the advanced nursing courses. In addition to these regular courses, students will need to take basic and advanced healthcare and nursing courses.

Admissions into an LPN to BSN program is the same as any four year college program. Prospective students will need to submit proof of a high school diploma or GED certificate, SAT and ACT scores, and complete the college admission packet. Students who are interested in the LPN to BSN programs will also need to submit additional information to their online or traditional college of choice. The additional information will vary depending upon the school but usually the school will ask for proof of a valid and current LPN certificate and proof that the prospective student has worked in the healthcare or nursing industry for at least six months.
