LPN to BSN Programs in Michigan

Michigan LPN to BSN Programs

The state of Michigan is expected to see a growth in the healthcare industry over the next 20 years. Healthcare industry experts expect to see a huge demand for trained and experienced nurses. All nurses in the state of Michigan are expected to hold at least an LPN certificate. However, nurses who wish to earn a higher hourly wage, be able to work independently and have multiple career opportunities may want to consider pursuing an advanced nursing degree. An LPN to BSN program is a great opportunity for nurses to earn an advanced nursing degree in a short span of time.

Traditional BSN programs take approximately four to six years to complete. A nursing student who enrolls in an LPN to BSN program can expect to earn their BSN degree in three to four years. The faster pace of the LPN to BSN program is attributed to the ability students have to test out of basic nursing classes. Students who have extensive experience in the nursing industry can test out of classes. If they pass the test they are able to be exempt from the basic nursing courses and move on to the more advanced courses.

The LPN to BSN program is structured in a very similar way to the traditional BSN program. Students are expected to take the same courses and learn the same material. All students who are enrolled in an LPN to BSN program are expected to take traditional college courses, such as English, math, social science and communications. Prospective students to the LPN to BSN program are expected to earn and maintain at least a 2.5 GPA in these traditional, basic college courses. Students in the LPN to BSN program will also be expected to take part in clinicals and attend advanced healthcare and nursing programs.

An admission to the LPN to BSN program in the state of Michigan is very similar to almost any four year college. The requirements for each school will vary but some pieces of information are the same across the board. Prospective students will need to submit proof of a high school diploma or GED certificate. They will also be required to submit ACT or SAT scores. Some schools may require students to submit TEAS scores, which will show a basic understanding of grammar and math. Students are also expected to submit proof of a valid LPN certificate and proof that they held a job for at least six months in the healthcare or nursing industry.
