Oklahoma LPN Training
These days, many people are concerned about the state of the economy and feel as though employment options are limited. For some, Oklahoma LPN training is a starting point for an exciting new career.
Oklahoma LPN training it is a specialized course of education designed to prepare graduates for a career as a licensed practical nurse. Most LPN training can be completed in a relatively short time period, leading one to a career working in a hospital, nursing home, or mental health facility alongside doctors and nurses. LPNs are responsible for providing continuous bedside care to patients in a health care setting.
Becoming an LPN in Oklahoma
In order to become a licensed practical nurse by examination in Oklahoma, one must be at least 18 years of age and must have earned either a high school diploma or GED. In addition, the person must present documentary proof that he or she is eligible to work in the United States. The applicant must have graduated from a state-approved nursing education program that has included the following areas: Care of adults, care of children, Maternal-newborn nursing, and psychiatric-mental health nursing. There is an $85 application fee.
After the LPN Training
The test used to license LPNs in Oklahoma is the NCLEX. Applicants must first register and pay the $200 fee in order to take this exam. The exam must be taken within 2 years of graduating, or the individual must fulfill additional education requirements.
Individuals who are currently licensed in another state or jurisdiction can apply for licensure by endorsement in Oklahoma. These individuals, in addition to the requirements above for all applicants, must have passed either the NCLEX-PN or the State Board Test Pool Examination (SBTPE).
Nurses educated outside of the United States must submit proof of English proficiency and CGFNS verification.
All endorsement applicants must submit license verification and evidence of continuing competence in the previous 2 years in one of the following ways:
- Official transcript or certification of having completed a nursing refresher course
- Successfully passing the NCLEX-PN
- Official transcript showing completion of 6 academic credit hours or 105 contact hours
- Employer Verification Form that shows evidence of licensure in another state with verification of at least 520 work hours in the past 2 years
