Utah CNA Training

For those who are getting ready to graduate from high school and feeling overwhelmed and those who are feeling trapped in a career that is dull and lacks opportunities for advancement, Utah LPN training may be a solution. With a small amount of additional education one can begin a new career in the healthcare industry.

Utah LPN training is an exciting option available to those that want to pursue a career as a licensed practical nurse. The health care profession employs a variety of medical professionals who must work together to provide a high level of care to each patient. Although doctors are responsible for most of the important decisions and treatment plans, licensed practical nurses help patients to feel comfortable and assist with much of the day-to-day care.

Becoming an LPN in Utah

The first step in becoming an LPN in Utah is to complete an education program that is accredited by the Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education, National League for Nursing Accrediting Commission, or Council on Accreditation of Nurse Anesthesia Educational Programs. The following items must be attached with a licensure application:

  • Division of Occupational Licensing (DOPL) application
  • $100 application fee
  • 2 fingerprint cards
  • New graduates: official transcript
  • Those applying for licensure by endorsement: verification of licensure
  • Graduates of foreign nursing schools who have never been licensed: Commission on Graduates of Foreign Nursing Schools (CGFNS) certificate
  • Those applying for LPN equivalency: letter of equivalency from current RN program
  • NCLEX registration (if applicable)

The exam used to license LPNs in Utah is the NCLEX-PN. There is a $200 registration fee.

Renewing an LPN License

LPN license renewal in Utah is based on a set date, rather than date of license. All licenses expire on January 31st of even-numbered years. The first renewal period may be greater or less than 2 years, depending on how far into the 2 year renewal period the license was obtained.

Additional Resources

Like in other parts of the country, LPNs in Utah work directly with patients, clients, and facility residents.

LPN duties include performing basic diagnostic tests, administering medication to patients, giving shots and injections, obtaining patients' vital signs, as well as many other important responsibilities.

As a Utah LPN, you might specialize in obstetrics, pediatrics, surgery or psychiatry or another nursing specialty that interests you.

Why Online LPN Classes?

Being a licensed practical nurse is a great career. But many working adults who want to become an LPN have an extremely busy schedule - balancing a full-time job, family commitments and other personal responsibilities. The traditional classroom setting offered by most local LPN schools doesn't offer the same flexibility as taking their LPN classes online.

Online programs allow students to fit their education into their already busy schedule - studying and taking exams when it's convenient for them. LPN students can access their online classroom 24 hours per day / seven days per week.

Also, taking LPN nursing courses online saves students even more time, as online students don't need to commute to school. Online schools enable busy people to get LPN training, without interfering with their current job or personal life.
