The wage a nurse earns will depend upon who the employer is, what degree the nurse holds, what hours are worked, and what section of the healthcare industry a nurse is working in. An LPN to BSN program is an accelerated nursing program that allows students to use their knowledge and experience to help speed up the time it takes to earn their BSN degree. Students are able to choose to test out of classes in which they feel they already possess the necessary knowledge and skills that will be taught in the class. They will also be given the option to use real world work experience as part of their clinicals, instead of having to take part in separate clinicals. Both of these options are available in the LPN to BSN program and help students earn their degree faster.

Students who take part in an Illinois LPN to BSN program will still take part in the same courses and classes as a traditional BSN program. Students are expected to take part in English, math, social science and communication courses. These are the basic courses almost every student who earns a degree must take. Students who are in the LPN to BSN program will need to maintain at least a 2.5 GPA in these courses in order to be considered for the accelerated nursing program. In addition to these traditional college courses students will take all the regular nursing and healthcare courses.

There are several admission requirements students must meet in order to be considered for an LPN to BSN program in the state of Illinois. Prospective students must submit proof of a high school diploma or GED, ACT or SAT scores, and letters of recommendation. In addition to providing that information, students who wish to take part in the LPN to BSN program must submit proof of a valid, current LPN certificate and show proof that they have held a job for at least six months in the healthcare industry. This job must have given them opportunity to use their nursing skills.
