The first step to beginning a career as an LVN is to look into the various education options. LVN programs typically take 12-14 months of full-time study and 18-20 months of part-time study to complete. After completing an approved LVN program in Los Angeles, a student must then register for and pass the NCLEX-PN. Those who pass the exam are then eligible for licensure.

Though these programs differ in some regards, they must meet the following standards in order to be approved by the state of California: At least 1,530 total hours, including 576 hours of theory, 954 of clinical, and 54 hours of pharmacology.

Online vs. Traditional Courses
