LPN Programs in New Hampshire

New Hampshire LPN Training

New Hampshire LPN training is a specialized course of education that's available to those who want to pursue a career as a licensed practical nurse. Licensed practical nurse education programs typically last one year or less, allowing one to jump start a career. Working as an LPN can even be a stepping stone for individuals to pursue a higher level nursing degree in the future.

Becoming an LPN in New Hampshire

The first step in becoming licensed by examination in the state of New Hampshire is to complete an approved education program. The combination of clinical and classroom hours in the program must be a minimum of 600 hours. After doing so, one is eligible to register for the NCLEX-PN and obtain Authorization to Test (ATT).

After Completing the Training

The application process requires that individuals complete the following steps:
    • FBI fingerprinting and criminal background check
    • Application for Licensure by Examination with fee payment
    • Application for Temporary License with fee payment (if applicable)
    • Official transcript sent to the board by the school's Office of Registrar
    • Submit ATT for NCLEX
    • Graduates of foreign nursing programs, only: Official evidence of completing CGFNS full course by course credentials evaluation
Those who are licensed in another state can apply for licensure by endorsement in New Hampshire, so long as the individuals have worked as a nurse for at least 400 hours in the past 4 years and completed the 30 required continuing education credits in the past 2 years. Those who wish to be licensed in this way must submit verification of the original license. New Hampshire is a member of the Nurse Licensure Compact. Those who are licensed in compact states are allowed to work in other compact states without additional licensure.

Renewing an LPN License

LPNs in New Hampshire must renew their licenses every 2 years. In order to qualify, nurses must complete 30 hours of continuing education in the previous 2 year licensing period.
