Massachusetts RN Programs

For those interested in a rewarding career in the medical industry, registered nursing might be a great option. While other jobs in the work force have fallen because of a decline in the economy, RNs are still in high demand. Massachusetts RN programs are a great opportunity to earn the education necessary for this career path.

On top of positive job security, RN programs in Massachusetts also allow for great pay opportunities. In addition, there are opportunities to specialize and earn advanced degrees. There are many programs to choose from, so individuals should have no trouble finding the right one.

Becoming an RN in Massachusetts

In order to become licensed as a registered nurse in Massachusetts, one must complete an approved nursing education program and be of good moral character to be considered eligible by the Board to take the NCLEX.

One who is a graduate of a foreign nursing school must submit a CGFNS certificate or report, or some other approved credentials review. If the nursing education program was not in English, the individual must pass a test of English proficiency.

Once the Board has declared eligibility to sit for the NCLEX, and individual must pass the licensure exam.

One who has been licensed previously in another state or jurisdiction can become licensed by endorsement. He or she must have already passed the NCLEX or SBTPE, and the licensing requirements in the other state or jurisdiction must be at least equivalent to those in Massachusetts.

Renewing an RN Program

RN licenses are valid for a 2 year period, and expire on an individual's birthday in even numbered years. 15 contact hours of continuing education are required during each renewal period.
