MSN Programs in Oklahoma

Oklahoma MSN Programs

Oklahoma offers multiple options in terms of MSN programs. Though there is a limited number of traditional colleges and universities that offer this degree, Oklahoma residents can take advantage of distance learning through one of the many online programs. An Oklahoma nurse who wants to purse a master's degree can do so without leaving the state, or even traveling at all.

Those who are looking into MSN programs in Oklahoma are not limited to programs within the state. There are many different options to compare, and choosing the one that is the best fit may be the key to successfully earning this degree. The first step in earning an MSN is to begin evaluating the different options.

Online vs. Traditional Programs

For those who are interested in enrolling in courses at a traditional Oklahoma college or university, there are a limited number of programs available. This program format is great for someone who craves a learning environment that allows him or her to interact with other students and in person with the instructors. Disadvantages to these programs are the fact students are required to travel to campus for classes at the scheduled times, and they are not convenient for individuals who do not live close to a campus or want to move.

Online MSN programs are beneficial because the offer a broader range of programs to choose from and allow students to decide, for the most part, where and when they will complete the classes and coursework. These programs are great for busy nurses struggling to balance work and family life with getting an education. There are countless online MSN programs, but two examples are those offered by Kaplan University and Indiana Wesleyan University.

Kaplan University's MSN program offers four different specialty tracks: Executive Leader or Informatics, Adult NP, Family NP, and Nurse Education. The Executive leader or Informatics track requires students to complete 65 total credits, and the other specialty curriculums range from 80-100 credits.

Indiana Wesleyan University offers a variety of options for potential Oklahoma MSN students. This university has an online MSN MBA dual degree program, and offers the MSN in both Nursing Administration and Nursing Education. Both of MSN tracks require students to complete a 41 credit curriculum. The MSN MBA dual-degree program consists of 60 credits.
