Licensure by Examination in Washington

The first step in becoming an RN in Washington is to have completed an approved registered nursing education program. One can become licensed either by examination or by endorsement.

In order to become licensed by examination in the state of Washington, an individual must submit an application along with the following items:

  • Application Fee
  • Certificate of Completion from nursing school
  • Official Transcripts
  • NCLEX Registration

Foreign educated nursing students wishing to become licensed by examination must submit the following items along with the appropriate application:

  • Education Evaluation by CGFNS, ERES, or IERF
  • Official Transcripts
  • Passing score on the TOEFL
  • Education Verification

Licensure by Endorsement in Washington

Those who are already licensed in another state or jurisdiction can apply for licensure by endorsement. In addition to the application, an applicant must submit the following:

  • FBI Background Check
  • Application Fee
  • RN License from original state of licensure
  • Verification of Education
  • Evidence of current license
  • Evidence of having passed the NCLEX
