Florida LPN training provides individuals with the education necessary to work as an LPN. Licensed practical nurses are responsible for providing bedside care to patients in nursing homes, hospitals, mental health facilities, and other environments where people come to seek medical care.

Becoming an LPN in Florida

In Florida, individuals can become licensed either by examination or endorsement. The exam used by Florida to license LPNs is the NCLEX.

In Florida, individuals are eligible to take the LPN examination if they are:

  • Practical nursing or registered nursing graduates of state-approved nursing programs
  • Graduates of an MSN or higher program (if they received equivalent education)
  • Individuals who have completed coursework that is equivalent to practical nurse training in a registered nursing program
  • Registered nurses from Canada who passed the Canadian Nurses Association Testing Service Examination after August 8, 1995.

To take the NCLEX examination, all applicants must register and pay the $200.00 fee.

In order to become licensed by endorsement in Florida, one must have an active license in another state or jurisdiction. He or she must have worked as an LPN for 2 of the past 3 years.
