RN Programs in St. Louis, Missouri

St. Louis RN programs are the perfect opportunity for those interested in a career in nursing. These programs vary in terms of the degree offered and the format used for classes.

ADN vs. BSN Programs

One can become an RN in St. Louis with either an associate's or a bachelor's degree. An ADN takes around two years to complete and a BSN about four years, if the student is enrolled full-time. Though the former is sufficient, graduates of the latter may be more promotable and have the potential to earn a higher salary. The advantage to ADN programs is that they allow individuals to earn a degree quickly and then begin a career soon after.

Online vs. Traditional Programs

Aside from the two different degree options, applicants can also choose from online and on-site classes. Programs that are offered predominately online make it easy to work full-time and maintain family life while earning a degree. Students can login at any time to watch lectures and submit assignments.

Though online programs do mimic a classroom environment, traditional campus-based RN programs allow students to have the real thing. These programs have more structure, as students must report to campus at scheduled times for classes. The major advantage is that students can interact face-to-face with each other and with professors.

Once an RN program has been completed, one must pass the NCLEX-RN in order to be eligible for licensure.
