After becoming an RN in Hawaii, an individual can work in a hospital, clinic, or doctor's office. There is currently a great demand for registered nurses in the job market, and that need is growing every year. The more people that come to the state, the more nurses are needed to take care of them.
There are many different RN programs in the state of Hawaii. Any individual interested in becoming an RN should get as much information as possible, and seriously consider all available options.
In order to become an RN by examination in Hawaii, an individual must:
- Submit a completed Application for License by Exam along with the $40.00 application fee
- Submit an NCLEX registration form
- Select the Pearson Professional Center location that he or she wants to test in
In order to become an RN by endorsement in Hawaii, an individual must:
- Have passed the NCLEX in another state with a score of at least 1400 or the State Board Test Pool Exam in another state or Canadian province with a score of at least 350 in each part
- Have graduated from a state-approved baccalaureate, associate degree or hospital nursing program in the United States or a US territory
- Prove that his or her nursing program is equivalent to a U.S. Accredited Nursing Education Program if the individual was educated outside of the United States
To get a temporary permit in Hawaii, an individual must submit:
- A completed application with the application fee
- A photocopy of his or her current US nursing license indicating the expiration date
- A completed 'Verification of Employment' form that is signed by his or her employer in Hawaii
