Arizona MSN Programs

Anyone who lives in Arizona and wants to take on some of the high end tasks in the nursing world should consider a master's of science in nursing degree. MSN programs are made for students who have already gone through their bachelor's level education and want to get a higher level of nursing education.

Online vs. Traditional Programs

In Arizona, students have a few different options for earning an MSN degree. The biggest distinction between programs is whether they are available online or if a student must physically attend class where the school is located. There are advantages and disadvantages for each option, and the choice comes to down to what is the best fit for each individual student.

If an individual is unable to attend class at a set schedule like a traditional classroom setting would require, then he or she should consider becoming an MSN through an online program. These programs also offer students the ability to have direct contact with the teacher during class and allow students to interact and collaborate with other students on projects.

Another option for a student to consider is online MSN classes. Online programs allow students to work on their own time, completing assignments and taking tests when it is convenient for them. This is a great option for students who have full-time jobs or other time-consuming responsibilities like taking care of a family.

Each nursing program offers different areas for an individual to specialize in. For example, at Kaplan University, MSN students can chose from Family Nurse Practitioner, Adult-Gerontology, Nurse Educator, and Executive Leader or Informatics. If a student attends California University of Pennsylvania's online program, he or she can specialize in Nurse Administration and Leadership.

Admission Requirements

The requirements to be admitted to an MSN program are different depending on which one a student choses and the level of education that he or she already has. Although there are differences in all program requirements, there are also many similarities. Typical MSN program requirements for admission include having:

  • A GPA of at least 3.0
  • A BSN degree
  • An active nursing license
  • Passed an undergraduate statistics course
  • Submitted an application and application fee
  • Submitted a resume or CV
  • Submitted an official transcript from the nursing program he or she graduated from
