Certified nursing assistants are responsible for providing support to doctors and nurses so that they can make the most efficient use of their time. CNAs regularly attain jobs in nursing homes, mental health facilities, hospitals and public health clinics. Common responsibilities might include taking vital signs, recording patient histories, answering questions about patient treatment and educating people about preventative health practices.

To become a CNA in New Jersey, a potential nursing assistant must complete a 90 hour CNA training course, consisting of 50 classroom hours and 40 clinical hours. NJ does not require CNAs to be certified to work in an acute care hospital.
