Becoming a CNA in Kentucky

In Kentucky, a CNA is referred as a State Registered Nurse Aide (SRNA). In order to become an SRNA, one must first complete a state-accepted training course. After completing the course, the individual must pass a competency evaluation that is made up of both a written exam and a clinical skills demonstration in order to be registered on the Kentucky Nurse Aide Registry (KNAR).

Renewing a CNA License

The KNAR registration must be renewed every two years. In order to qualify, an SRNA must perform at least 8 paid hours of nursing work.

Licensure by Reciprocity

A CNA who is listed on another states registry may request and obtain reciprocity as long as his or her certification is active.
