This is why so many people have become interested in New Jersey CNA classes. Certified nursing assistants are in high demand and have the opportunity to really make a difference in people's lives.

Certified nursing assistants are responsible for providing support to doctors and nurses so that they can make the most efficient use of their time. CNAs regularly attain jobs in nursing homes, mental health facilities, hospitals and public health clinics. Common responsibilities might include taking vital signs, recording patient histories, answering questions about patient treatment and educating people about preventative health practices.

Becoming a CNA in New Jersey

To become a CNA in New Jersey, a potential nursing assistant must complete a 90 hour CNA training course, consisting of 50 classroom hours and 40 clinical hours. NJ does not require CNAs to be certified to work in an acute care hospital.

CNAs must register every two years and be fingerprinted. The individual must have a current and valid certification which cannot have been revoked, and he or she must have performing nursing work for pay for at least 7 hours in the 2 year period.

Licensure by Reciprocity

CNAs that are registered in other states can be listed on New Jersey's Registry by applying for reciprocity. In order to meet the requirements, the individual must have completed a training program and a competency exam at least equal to that which is required in NJ. In addition, he or she must be subject to a criminal background check and cannot have any convictions involving abuse, neglect, or misappropriation of property.
