Connecticut LPN Training

Thousands of companies have either slowed their hiring process or stopped completely in an attempt to save money in this difficult economy. However, while other industries have slowed down, the health care industry is growing. Anyone interested in benefiting from this growth should strongly consider Connecticut LPN training.

Connecticut LPN training consists of specialized training courses that are designed to give a person the tools and skills he or she needs to succeed as a licensed practical nurse. Although doctors and nurses shoulder most of the responsibility for diagnosing and treating patients, they rely on the services of licensed practical nurses to make the patients feel comfortable, and relay requests or questions to the medical team. Anyone who has always been fascinated by medical technology and likes working with people should consider LPN training.

Becoming an LPN in Connecticut

In order to become an LPN in Connecticut, an individual must have completed a nursing program that is comprised of at least 1,500 hours of theory over 10 months. Fifty percent of the contact hours must have been in supervised direct client care experiences and observational experiences. If the individual graduated from a program that required less than 1,500 hour, he or she is able to substitute clinical work experience as a graduate or LPN to make up for the hours that are deficient.

After Completing the Training

An individual can become licensed by exam by passing the NPLEX-PN and submitting the appropriate paperwork.

If an individual is already licensed as an LPN in another state and wishes to work as an LPN in Connecticut, he or she can apply for licensure by endorsement. The individual must submit:

  • A notarized application form
  • A bank check or money order for $150.00 payable to "Treasurer, State of Connecticut"
  • His or her official nursing school transcript proving the individual received a diploma, certificate, or degree in nursing
  • A completed Verification of Theory and Clinical Instruction form submitted by the dean of his or her nursing program

Applicants who received a nursing education outside of the United States can submit a "Professional Report" directly from CGFNS International that shows evidence of education equivalency.

Why Online LPN Classes?

Being a licensed practical nurse is a great career. But many working adults who want to become an LPN have an extremely busy schedule - balancing a full-time job, family commitments and other personal responsibilities. The traditional classroom setting offered by most local LPN schools doesn't offer the same flexibility as taking their LPN classes online.

Online programs allow students to fit their education into their already busy schedule - studying and taking exams when it's convenient for them. LPN students can access their online classroom 24 hours per day / seven days per week.

Also, taking LPN nursing courses online saves students even more time, as online students don't need to commute to school. Online schools enable busy people to get LPN training, without interfering with their current job and personal life.
