Utah DNP Programs

Today's healthcare industry is rapidly changing. This is due partially to changes in insurance coverage for many patients, and also because of changes brought on by the latest health research. Nurses who wish to take on more responsibility and play a greater role in analyzing research to change healthcare policies might be interested in a Doctor of Nursing Practice degree. There are many DNP programs in Utah that give a solid foundation of analytical skills, administrative knowledge, and leadership ability that will help nurses succeed in their chosen field of interest.

Admission Requirements

Utah has 2 different options for students who wish to pursue a DNP degree. It is offered at Rocky Mountain University and the University of Utah. Although the admission requirements for each program are similar, there are differences. For example:

To apply to the Rocky Mountain University DNP program, an individual must submit:

  • An online application
  • The $50 application fee
  • A resume
  • Official nursing school transcripts showing that the he or she graduated with at least a 3.0 GPA
  • A copy of his or her current nursing license

To apply to the University of Utah DNP program, an individual must submit:

  • An online application
  • His or her GRE scores
  • His or her NCLEX scores
  • A resume
  • A statement of purpose
  • A writing sample
  • The application fee

DNP programs often offer different career tracks that an individual can choose to pursue. For example, the University of Utah offers programs for Adult-Gerontology Acute Care Nurse Practitioner (ACNP), Neonatal Nurse Practitioner, Nurse Midwifery and Women's Health Nurse Practitioner, Primary Care Nurse Practitioner (FNP, A/GNP & PNP), and Psychiatric/Mental Health Nurse Practitioner.

Tuition

Tuition costs are also different for both of the DNP programs in the state of Utah. At Rocky Mountain University, tuition for the DNP program costs $31,275.
