North Dakota CNA classes are designed to prepare students to become a certified nursing assistant. These classes are specially approved training courses that will give students the skills and knowledge necessary to work in a fast-paced medical environment.
Doctors and nurses rely on certified nursing assistants to help them provide a high level of care to their patients. CNA responsibilities usually include recording patient medical histories, taking vital signs, preparing the patient for examination, and answering questions patient may have about health education topics. Becoming a CNA in North Dakota
Nurse Aides in North Dakota must complete an accepted program of a minimum of 75 hours and pass a competency evaluation. The competency evaluation must be taken within a 4 month grace period if working as a nurse aide already. Of the 75 hours, 16 hours of classroom training must be completed in the following areas:
- Communication/Interpersonal Skills
- Infection Control
- Safety/Emergency Procedures
- Promoting Independence
- Respecting Patient Rights
The competency evaluation consists of two parts: a written/oral section and a hands-on skills component. The individual is given 3 attempts to pass the exam before having to enroll in another training program and re-test.
CNAs in North Dakota may renew their licenses every 2 years as long as their work meets the following criteria:
- It was for pay
- He or she worked as a nurse aide
- He or she worked for at least 8 hours in the past 2 years
