Schooling for the nursing field can last up to four years for a bachelor’s degree if a student attends school full time. An associate’s degree can be completed in two years.

Becoming an RN by Examination in Florida

In Florida, individuals are eligible to take the RN examination if they are:

  • Registered nursing graduates of state-approved nursing programs
  • Graduates of an MSN or higher program (if they received equivalent education)
  • Individuals who have completed coursework that is equivalent to practical nurse training in a registered nursing program
  • Registered nurses from Canada who passed the Canadian Nurses Association Testing Service Examination after August 8, 1995.

To take the NCLEX examination, all applicants must register and pay the $200.00 fee.In order to become licensed by endorsement in Florida, one must have an active license in another state or jurisdiction. He or she must have worked as an RN for 2 of the past 3 years.
