However, some hospitals only want to hire certified medical assistants, so always double-check the requirements with the employer before you decide not to go with the certification.

It also goes without saying that you should be a people person because, not only will you be in close contact with patients, but doctors and nurses as well. Doctors and nurses tend to not want to work with medical assistants that are not friendly.
